At White Oak Pastures, we regularly add new pieces of land to our farm, either by buying or leasing nearby parcels. Almost all of the land we acquire is degraded cropland that for decades was used to grow monoculture crops, with the help of extreme chemical fertilizer and pesticide use.

  • The 2017 Census of Agriculture reports that the average age of an American farmer is 57.5, up 1.2 years from 2012
  • One in four producers is a beginning farmer with 10 or fewer years of experience and an average age of 46.3

But recently, we've been hearing that industrialized agriculture products made in a lab are the going to be future of meat. Fake meat companies like to say that they are a better choice for the environment, but at White Oak Pastures, we've been busy fact-checking their impossible claims. Most recently, on an episode of CNN Vital Signs with Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Will Harris destroyed the myth that they are benefiting future generations, pointing out that the trendy plant-based proteins are contributing to climate change while our grassfed cattle help reverse it.

White Oak Pastures is proud to share that EPIC Provisions’ Sweet & Spicy Sriracha Beef Bites are the first product to carry the new consumer-facing Land to Market Ecological Outcome Verification (EOV) Seal. EPIC Provisions makes healthy food that incorporates consciously sourced animal products, and EPIC is eager to incorporate the EOV seal with more of their products. This will require more regenerative farms that are educated and supported by the Savory Institute.
