When we think of the month of February, we think of Valentine’s Day, hearts, flowers, cherubs, and chocolate. Each is an expression of love in the name of Saint Valentine. February is also American Heart Month. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute chose February as the month to raise awareness of heart health and urge Americans to lower their risks for developing heart disease. White Oak Pastures recognizes the National American Heart Month. Yet, here on the farm, we are responsible for One Hundred Thousand Beating Hearts daily.

Each day, we butcher meat from 10 different species of animals raised in a regenerative manner while practicing humane animal management. Our Grassfed, Grass-Finished cattle have the most nutrient dense proteins you can buy. Grassfed beef has an extensive micronutrient profile and is lower in total calories but contains a more nutritional value. It also has bountiful amounts of all three essential electrolytes and provides up to six times more of the healthy, brain-boosting fats, Omega 3 fatty acids. There is clinical evidence that it decreases the risk of heart disease with increased consumption of CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), which is considered one of the strongest nutrients to defend against heart disease and cancer. There are also more anti-oxidant vitamins such as vitamin E. Consuming Grassfed beef while following a Ketogenic lifestyle can drastically improve blood glucose levels if you’re insulin resistant. Also, the risk of food poisoning is greatly reduced with Grassfed, Grass-Finished beef when comparing to grain-fed beef.

Because White Oak Pastures is a vertically integrated, zero-waste farm, we find ways to use all parts of the animals. What we don’t sell for meat is sold as pet grind, pet chews, or crafted into leather goods, tallow soap, candles, and lip balm. We also just harvested fresh vegetables from our Organic Garden, which are available in our General Store. Visit our online store to place your order for our Grassfed, Grass-Finished Beef and zero-waste Artisan Goods. Your heart will thank you!
