New Farm Store Items: Local, Good Food Partners

White Oak Pastures is known for meat, for good reason - our farm is centered around using animals and their impact on pasture to regenerate land. Our grassfed beef and pasture-raised poultry, heritage pork, and other proteins are the backbone of our farm, and our business.

But while we are proud of the products we offer, we also always think about how our customers are going to eat them. More specifically, sometimes we think about breakfast: if we’re going to offer baconeggs, and sausage from White Oak Pastures, wouldn’t it be nice to round out breakfast with something like locally ground biscuit mix and jelly?

That’s why we’ve started carrying some new items in our Farm Store - items that complement what we’re producing on the farm, from producers who share some of our same values.

Cured meat has been around since 3000 BC, and we are so excited to add it to our offering for our customers. We partnered with The Spotted Trotter in Atlanta to develop 3 delicious Summer Salamis: Genoa, Black Pepper & Sorghum, Cured Chorizo. We’re sure you’ll love them! Using our pasture-raised pork and simple ingredients, we could not be more proud to have these available in our online store.

Store Spotlight: To Your Health Sprouted Flour

To Your Health Sprouted Flour is an organic, sprouted flour company located in Bullock County, Alabama. It was started in founder and president, Peggy Sutton's kitchen in 2005 for a few friends and family members. Peggy had researched the benefits of sprouted grains and the time-honored tradition of how our ancestors would harvest grains that had naturally sprouted in the fields. Whenever she began to explain the benefits of sprouting to family and friends, the response was always, "Can't you just do it for me?" And so she did! And that's how To Your Health began.

Store Spotlight: This Cider Is On Fire!

When Dana St. Pierre offered his wife, Amy, a home remedy handed down from his German grandmother, Elisabet, I’m quite certain neither anticipated the path on which this would lead them. Amy can attest to the profound improvement in her overall health and energy levels. Because of that, she suggested they make a batch of their tonic for the 2010 Sire City Sanctuary Shindy, a Berkshires-based holiday artisans festival. Not only did Dana and Amy sell out of their tonic, they also had eager people showing up on their doorsteps wanting refills! Dana and Amy have taken an age-old family tonic and tweaked it to soothe the contemporary palate. Partnering with Amy’s brother, Brian, they created a company with the mission to promote an amazingly healthy lifestyle with Fire Cider.

Who would have thought that a small jelly kitchen in the Mitcham family’s backyard would grow into a major company? I’m quite certain Robert, Sr. and Patsy Mitcham did not know that Robert’s agricultural experience and teaching, along with running the canning plant at that school and the canning plant for Rabun County would turn into this!

On the southeast coast of Florida, there lies a small town by the name of Stuart, home of the innovative ecologist and preservationist-turned-chocolatier, Denise Castronovo. Castronovo Chocolate holds the title as the only bean-to-bar company in the United States owned by a woman to win recognition at the International Chocolate Awards.
